I'm trying to ./configure kaffeine on Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop Edition (Feisty), and well it's acting a little feisty. Here is what I get. Now I know that the default desktop on Ubuntu is GNOME, so how do I get configure to work with or look for the GNOME windows manager instead of KDE.

also try using the apt-get command instead. Makes life easier!

You would need to install kdelibs and kdelibs-dev in order for kaffeine to compile.

Thank you, the last post was very helpful, I did

sudo apt-get install kdelibs
and then
sudo apt-get install kdelibs-dev

and for the record, I wanted to do it the long way so I learn something and therefore I avoided running the same command to install kaffeine.

after that however I got another error stating:
C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

which I found basically means that I am missing a C++ compiler.
to get past that I ran:
sudo apt-get install build-essential

However, now I am stuck at another error
ERROR: Could not find xine-lib >= 1.0.2

Install xine-lib (or libxine on some distros) and xine-lib-dev.
