Problem after updating to Ubuntu 9.10 from 9.04

I upgraded my 9.04 Ubuntu desktop to 9.10 and everythings seem to go fine until system rebooted and it only boots to shell.

When i try to give commend 'gdn' i will give me following

(gdm-binary:16472): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.gnome.DisplayManager: Connection ":1.12" is not allowed to won the service "org.gnome.DisplayManager" due to security policies in the configure file

(gdm-binary:16472): WARNING **: Could not acquire name; bailing out

Any ideas how to get this solved? This is my Mom's PC. I really need to get it up and running before she comes home!!

Thanks!!
