I have installed both packages and each works ok on its own. My problem arises when i append the privoxy config file with:

forward-socks4a / 127.0.0.1:9050 .

I get nothing but a 503 error from privoxy. Here is the last entry in privoxy's logfile:

Oct 01 21:16:13.477 [notice] Tor has successfully opened a circuit. Looks like it's working.

I noticed i had to be root to enter /var/log/tor (don't know if it matters or not).

I've spent a week on this so far and i won't sleep until i pin it. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this going?

Also, when modifying the config file, you need to stop privoxy and after modification, restart privoxy.

I have seen that FAQ and many many others. I am not using zonealarm and even after stopping, appending, restarting i still get the said error. There are plenty of tutorials out there on setting these two up, they are all the same, i have followed them verbadim, but still no joy.

I installed them both from the default repository for FC4. Any other suggestions or comments?
