1. As mentioned previously, /etc/cups/cupsd.conf should contain

Listen localhost:631
or
Code:
Port 631
for the server to listen to local requests on port 631.

sudo gedit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
2. Don't forget to install the drivers as ardvark71 has already mentioned. Then you should be able to configure using the CUPS web interface or the 'system-config-printer' utility.
