Printer will shut off when printing.

I have a multiboot system. The problem is with Ubuntu 7.04. when I print it will print 1-3 pages and then the printer will cut off. I also have Slackware on this system running 2.4.33 kernel, and have no problems what so ever printing. this leads me to believe it has to be a problem with the kernel, or cups. I have spent the last week researching the issue, and can find nothing related, and have tried several different things. Has any one heard of this, or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

What printer do you have and what driver/ppd file are you using? Also, if you have another printer to hand, check to see what happens with that one too.

The printer is the Okidata Okipage 6e, and the ppd is the Okidata Okipage 6e foomatic/hpijs. i've also tried the other available driver for that model and also the Okidata Okipage 6x, same results each time. I do have another printer. I will try that when I can get to it, and let you know.

I've attached another printer, and it seems to have no problems. it is an Apollo P-2200. I neglected to mention earlier, they are both connected via parallel port.

Figured out the problem. I noticed today my sound was not working. after checking that out, I remembered I had added the acpi=force option on boot. after removing that and rebooting, no problems with either. Thanks for the help.

Well, I thought I had resolved the issue. however it will now just print a few more pages before it shuts off. So, does any one have any suggestions?
