Preparing for Install

I am preparing to re-install Redhat 9 and Windows 2000. I have never done a dual boot and I have a few questions. What is the simplest way to partition the drives for a dual boot? The few articles I have read talk about installing Windows, Linux, and then going back and shrinking the Windows partition. Is there a simplier way? I was thinking using fdisk or KNOPPIX (which I just found out "installs" better out of the box than RedHat).

use the fdisk utility that comes with windows to reserve space for the windows install, and leave the remainder as free space for linux. install windows to the partition you made for it, then install redhat to the remaining free space.

that would be a good idea, here's a recomendation:

/boot 100MB
/ however much you'll install
swap 2x RAM
/home the rest
