I use Qpopper for pop3 with ssl and SpamAssassin for spam filtering. I found both to be very easy to install and configure. The only negative I have heard is that some say SpamAssassin is slower than its counterparts. Both suit my needs well.

thanks from the sounds of it spam assasin will work even if it is a bit slower than other fitlers. This server is only going have maybe 10 e-mail accounts on it for now. Do you know of any av software that will scan the e-mail too? I have been searching around on sourceforge and stuff but I don't know which ones are actaully decent.

That is one thing I don't have experience with. I currently use drweb, but I don't have it set up to scan email.
