Pidgin missing SSL?

I'm running SuSE Desktop 10 SP 1. I just installed Pidgin 2.0.2 and added my MSN and Gtalk accounts. However, I cannot connect to them. When I try, I get an error message that says "SSL support is not installed." But when I check in YaST, I already have the OpenSSL module installed. Is there an option to compile Pidgin with SSL that I missed? All I did to install it was ./configure, make, and then make install.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to LQ.

You need to install gnutls-devel, then recompile and reinstall pidgin.

Thank you for the quick reply, reddazz. Another quick question. If I have to reinstall, does that mean I have to first uninstall it? If so, how do I uninstall software from linux? o_O Sorry, new to all this. Still trying to figure out the basics.

-- edit --

Never mind. I just went ahead and compiled it and then installed again and it worked. Thanks mucho~!

Hi!
Im using pidgin 2.0.1 and works very fine whit MSN.
but i want to upgrade to 2.1.0 version.
I install the package (im in Slackware) but when I try to connect to my MSN acount I get a message:
"SSL support is needed"

The 2.0.1 version dont have this problem.
I have installed openssl, tk8.4, tcl8.4
Do I need a new dependency to the 2.1.0 version?
