php upgrade on redhat 9?

Dear all

I am running redhat 9 having php installd via php_4.2.2-17.12.legacy_i386.rpm.
It has GD 1.6 support present. Now i wanna run php application which needs GD 2 or higher.

NOw i am unable to find on internet rpms of php-gd 4.2.2

Can any one tell me what can be the possible solutions now??

how can i get php-gd 2 support??

Hi

Your best bet would be to download the latest PHP version as source and GD as source as well and compile them yourself.

Make sure you configure and compile GD with

./configure --with-jpeg=/usr/lib/libjpeg.a

so it will have JPEG support. Them, configure and compile PHP with

./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apache2 --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/lib --with-gd

You should then have PHP with GD support.
