passwordcracking program called slurpie

It's been a while since I wrote in a thread. Well, I got a problem with the cracking program I downloaded. I looked everywhere on the net for info on howto's and getting it to run but no luck. My last resort was writing to this thread. Hoping any of you guys could help me out.
The program is called slurpie. It's a .tgz file. I decompressed it useing the gzip first. After I do that I get these two errors:

gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--crc error

gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--length error

Even if I continue useing the tar command (which is the next step) I still can't get it to run properly without the errors. I'm not so good useing linux (I'm a newbie). I did put the right options for gzip and tar, though. I was hopeing if any of you have this program up and running and what did you do to correct the errors? Thanks for your help.

Try just using tar, run "tar zxvf <filename.tgz>".

If that doesn't work, then try some better password cracking utilities.

I know there is Jack the Ripper, and Lepton's Crack. I personally prefer lepton's, but a lot of people like Jack the best. Just search for google and you can find both of them easily.

Are usually the result of a corrupt file, which can happen either from a bad disk or a bad download (or a download from someone storing it on a bad disk.)

Thx guys. I'll either download it again from a different site or just download John the Ripper. Thx again.
