Exclamation pango configure problem with glib from source

i decided to get gaim source and compile but it needs gtk
ok so i download pkgconfig-0.15.0.tar.gz, unzip it, then
./configure
make
make install it and its ok
i do the same with glib-2.6.0.tar.bz2, no errors
then i do it again with pango-1.8.0.tar.bz2
but i get an error:
checking for pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.5.7... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly installed.
configure: error:
*** Glib 2.5.7 or better is required. The latest version of
*** Glib is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/.

anyone had this problem im in mandrake 10.1?

you need to install the package "Glib 2.5.7"

edit

ok, your using Mandrake 10.1

I'd search this forum for advice on how to setup urpmi, then type in:

su
password
urpmi gaim

that will take care of all your dependencies.

double edit:

if you still want to install the source of gaim, then do the above except type in as root:

urpmi glib
