Give nicotine-1.0.7 a try. I have used it since 9.1 and to date, it's my favorite p2p app. You can find it in the PLF repository.

I am reading the INSTALL, and I am new to Linux, and it says

To install Nicotine, from the source tree run:

python setup.py install --prefix=<dir>

What do I put for the <dir> ? the directory to the setup.py? and when I tried that, I got a permissions error (Yes, I was in root)

Why not install the rpm(s)? Just add the main, contrib and plf repositories and urpmi it. It makes life a bit easier
