Owncloud and Wordpress.

Hi all,

I've recently started playing with a server that i bought, before this i had no knowledge of linux at all, i've used a lot of guides i've found on the internet to get my perfect home server setup. i currently have Owncloud, plex and subsonic all available over the internet and accessible on my laptop/mobile on a headless ubuntu 12.04 server.

I want to install Wordpress so i can start a blog but i got told you can install it wrong and it will overwrite the owncloud that i have set up?

If i want to goto my owncloud remotely i just use "mypublicip/owncloud"

How can i install wordpress so i can just do "mypublicip/wordpress" ?? without it messing up my owncloud setup?

My owncloud uses litesql or something like that, and the guide to install wordpress says i should use normal sql? Can you even have both running or should i just use litesql ?

Do i need to install it in a sub directory in var/www so it doesn't mess with my owncloud ? Kinda confused. Any advice welcome

I've checked Debian packages for both owncloud and wordpress and there are packages for each with no mention of any conflicts with each other. How exactly were you planning to install wordpress? How do you install a package "wrong"? I don't see why you would have any problems.

Basically someone i was talking to that knows a lot more about linux then me was talking about it and what they said went straight over my head, they said something about my public html folder and that wordpress will overwrite my owncloud website. I have yet to see this "public html" folder anywhere and don't remember having to edit anything in that folder? And they said if i want to run two websites i should run one on a virtual machine or something.

Should i just try it and see what happens? Can i run litesql and MYSQL on the same server?

1. Remember the 3 basic rules of computer use: a. backup b. backup c. backup.
2. Once you've done that then go ahead and play round to your heart's content.
