nothing shows up after startup in redhat linux 9
Hi friends,
I'm having problem in using red hat linux 9. I'm using dual boot computer having win xp, and linux. Out of every 2 out of 5 times, whenever startup of linux completes ( command prompt type - starting all the services ), nothing shoes up and screen remains black and I've to restart the pc and it eats my lot of time. Do anyone have any idea to fix it?

vineetsunshine; question? which is 1st boot xp or rh? it will make a difference.
the suggested method (without problems) is to leave w as is except to limit it size on hdd then install rh along with swap space. that is in regards as to how large hdd dr is? mine is 40g & have w98 1st @ 12g with mdk @35.2g. &
no problems yet. please include detailed information original post is sparce.

Hi Sir,
rhl 9 is the first booting os, but i installed win xp first as windows wrights the MBR. I don't want to install linux again as the things are working well instead of that problem
My HDD is also 40 GB and I gave 9.3 GB to linux. I used the default partition size for swap space.
Now what should I do?

vineetsunshine; 1 more ?, how much memory onboard? linux is a memory hog
requiring lots of memory for preformance
effectively. i have 128mb almost not quite enough but do not do large files nor media so need is satisfactory.

Check your logs as to what is happening first [GNOME -->System Tools --> System Logs]
Try stopping all the services[kudzu, and others] in runlevel 5 and give it a go..
[GNOME -->System Settings -->Server Settings -->Services]
