no such file or directory exists when trying to execute a exe

Hi everyone,

i have just downloaded ubuntu and installed it on my linux server...
i am now trying to install plesk from the command line....my problem is this...

i login to root

i mount the cdrom that the plesk auto installer cd resides.....

the i copy it to my root folder

root@dlkfj/media/cdrom0# cp filename_of _installer /root
and it copies it to the root folder

i change my current directory to my root folder

cd /root

and do an ls to make sure the file is in there...

and it is...and its in green so i know its an executable file...

i change the permissions on it

chmod +x filename

and the check to see if it worked.....
it did

now i try to execute the file by typing

./filename

and it keeps saying that no such file or directory exists...

ami going crazy...it shows that its there but then when i try to run it it says that its not....ive rechecked the filename a hundred times to ensure that im typing it correct and actually use the trick where you type the first few letters and hit tab so it types the rest for you which works fine......

anyone help me????? really stuck here.

thank you for helping me thats a good idea
but....
I cant run it from the cd rom because the permissions when you download are set to read only..

chmod +x filename
i get permission denied if i do that...

when you download the installation from plesk.com the instructions are
step 1-- download the installer cd
step 2-- change permissions
chmod +x filename
step 3-- execute the program
./filename

anymore ideas??

oh yeah another thing...i find it quite weird that when i copy it from the disk to my /root directory it takes only about a millisecond...is that normal?

thanx ! worked great

it installed a a few directorys and my instructions tell me to go to the directory called base and install all the .deb packages..
first of all...is there a way to install them all rather that type each one in individually?

dpkg -i filename.deb

and secondly

when i typed that above i get this

package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64)

any ideas from here?
