SIOCADDRT: File exists
SIOCCADDRT: File Exists Failed to bring up eth0.
OKay I am pulling my hair out over this one. I have 2 NICs in my machine, one is static for an internal network, and one is dhcp from the cable company for the external network. Everytime I boot my machine, I get the above error message when networking is starting. (eth0 is the internal one - the external one starts up fine) The internal one won't even start manually (ifup eth0) until I change whatever IP address was there before. Doesn't matter what IP was there, as long as it isn't the same as the previous one.
For eth0 my settings currently are:
IP: 192.168.0.1
NM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.0.1
Boradcast: 192.168.0.255
On my fedora machine this works just fine, as a matter of fact i don't even need a gateway; i don't know why i need it on Debian (which is where I am having this problem).
My second PC is running Windows and has an IP of 192.168.0.2 and a gateway of 192.168.0.1.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.
