Nicotine - connect option is disabled
I just installed Nicotine 1.0.8rc1 on my Mandrake 10 box, and the first 4 options under the File menu are disabled ("connect/disconnect etc."). Any idea if there's something else I need to set up before I can connect?
I'd have posted this in a Nicotine forum but I couldn't find one. Any help is appreciated!

You need to fill in a username and password. And the username needs to be unique, then you should be able to connect.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to make a difference, and the options are still greyed out. It looks similar to the problem presented here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...light=nicotine for which there doesn't appear to be a resolution.

Yup. Almost certainly you have picked a username in use already. Keep trying and it will work for you. Remember that you need to be unique.
Just went through this setting up nicotine for my brother the other day...

It's definitely not the username. I just tried Bulliverxx20o4 and got the same result. I'm going to try running it as root as that seemed to help the originator of the thread I posted above.

eh? root? I don't see how that could make a difference. Here's another thought...did you set up your shares? It might not let you connect without those.
