Just installed a new UbuntuMATE system on a 1TB SSD with Nvidia GPU (Titan XP)
This morning when I booted my display looked very strange, low resolution with 'glitches' (see attached)
What are the possible causes?
How do I reset all display related preferences to their defaults on boot?
Is this done in GRUB or?
I know its NOT hardware related because its a dual boot system and Windows looks just fine.
Did you try Ubuntu in "live" mode before installing? Did it have the graphics problem in live mode (or is it only since installing)? Did the problem start after an update?
What steps have you taken so far to troubleshoot your Nvidia Titan XP? Are you using nouveau or the restricted drivers?
Thanks for the replies
No, not Nouveau. My understanding is that it should be avoided.
After reinstalling on existing partitions was able to eventually boot. Of course needed to reinstall drivers.
Still some confusion on 'proper' method for drivers, use PPA or...?
