a bit late to this but this line has me wondering ?

let me get this strait so that everyone here is on the same page
1)
you made a bootable usb thumb drive
2)
you plugged it into the computer and rebooted , to RUN the fedora operating system FROM the usb
you did not install the fedora 18 operating system to the internal hard drive of this computer
?? right ??
if this is the case
then running a 2 to 3 gig update for fedora 18
( yes the first update of fedora 18, 6 months after it came out , will be a update of almost everything )
over the VERY slow usb2 this will take 2 to 4 DAYS .
it took me ,on a usb2 thumb drive, 24 hours to update fedora 18 .This was a few weeks after it came out .
and that was NOT a full update .
-- if not a live usb install, as above, then .
now if this was a new install to the internal drive , using the usb instead of a dvd .
is this a single boot ?As in is fedora 18 the ONLY operating system
if not and you also have windows installed and this is a dual boot
how much room did you allocate when you repartitioned the drive to install fedora 18
