New Distros?

I'm using SuSE 9.1 but everyone says try a couple...anyone got sugggestions? i just tried installlin mandrake and it couldnt configure my mouse out of the box so thats not encouraging im somewhat of a noob but the only thing i havent been able to figure out on here is wine. But i hear a lot of people have trouble with that on SuSE. SO for a semi-noob anyone got suggestions for new distros to try? Red hat? Debian? Anything thatts very complete but it doesnt necessarily need to b easy

Fedora Core 2, good compleet usible distro.
everyone likes slackware, ivbe nerver used it so i cant comment
if you wnat somthing challenging but not overly complicated id try gentoo www.gentoo.org the install process alone will teach you a lot about how linux works

anyone know why Mandrake 10.1 doesnt detect my logitech optical mouse (USB)
