Neverwinter & Debian Woody

I'm trying to get NWN running on debian woody. Initially I used the installer provided but even updated from the Beta2 (included in the installer) to Beta4 (current as of this posting). After that, when I type './nwn' I get the following error:

Failed to initialize SDL Video: No available video device
./nwn: line 10: 7500 Segmentation fault ./nwmain $@

I've downloaded and extracted SDL-1.2.5 (latest as of this posting)
typed:
./configure
make
make install

that should in theory give me SDL as required by the installer. Still getting the same error though. Ideas anyone? My system:

700MHz PIII, 128MB RAM, nVidia TNT2 card w/32MB RAM, Debian Woody with 2.4.20 kernel. Sound works, X works, everything else works (except Java but that's another story..)

Anyone have any ideas? I'm stuck in dual boot land..
