i have some questions about this gkrellm.
first it displays the sum of the traffics(up- and downstreams). is it possible to make it show both up and down?
secondly i would like to see the temperature of my cpy... there is a plugin, but i couldnt installl it.
and there is this mail notification. is a .mp3 file just enaugh, or do i have to have a program for playing it.
1. Yes, it can be configured to show both up and down, not combined (how helpful is combined?) I've got mine setup to show both up and down seperately try different character strings, here's the one I use: \C\f $M\D1$a\f $l\D2$A\f $L (Note: I don't know what all that means, I just know it's what I use and like )
2. Temp of your city. I use that one too. What is stopping you from installing it? If it's because you don't have the directory it's looking for, create it. However, I prefer to use my plugins on a per-user basis, so I stick them in ~/.gkrellm/plugins
As for a program to play mp3's my ventured guess is that you'd need a program, however I'd also venture a guess that mpg123 is good enough since it's sort of THE mp3 program in linux...

There's a bit involved in installing the plugins for cpu temp monitoring, you'll need to look at this page: http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/
And possible recompile your kernel.
oh. sorry. didn't see my own mistake. i don't have this mpg123. so i dicided to use xmms but there is one problem. everytime there is a new email for me, xmms will pop up. i don't like it. is there a way to tell xmms not to pop up. key or something? or another option is allso welcome.
Um, try using mpg123 You probably do have it, if not, go ahead and install from your CD's or get it from a RH mirror. It's a command line mp3 player. That way you don't have xmms popping up to play your mp3, it's played in the background via the console.
