Need to publish MsAccess applications....be it with linux or otherwise

Hello,

I work for a non for profit which is using several ms access database applications. Naturally, being an open source freak, I am extremely irritated by this. All of the databases that we have sit on a "database server". Since many of the users are remotely using the database, our options have been limited to citrix on top of ms windows, but due to a little mishap, the citrix is becoming less of an option because we need the licenses for people who are traveling and need access to email, files, etc. The performance of these database applications are extremely poor if the users try to use the databases straight over the wan via mapped network drive. So, my question.....is there a way to serve up these access database applications to remote office users using something other than the ms terminal services/citrix method?

There are RDP clients for Linux such as rdesktop, krd and krdc that provide a similar function as your ICA client. On the other side it's still MS Terminal Services, unless that is no longer an option either.

Well, I'm finding that Access is basically "married" to ms Windows. I'm trying to either find a way to divorce it from windows, or see if there is some kind of content server that will allow me to "publish" an access database application so that multiple users can access/modify it. The server that I have it on it just basically a file server and does absolutely nothing other that allow people to access the Access databases. Because the application has been so heavily coded and developed, a web front end is not possible.
