Hi all,

I just recently upgraded to PHP 5.1.2 from PHP 4[.3.4](?). I mainly use PHP to call shell programs using passthru(), however, in PHP 5.1.2, this function does absolutely nothing. Along with this I tried exec(), popen(), proc_open(), and system(), all of them do not work. (Exec returns a status code of 127 if that helps). I believe this is a problem with my configuration, has any one else had this problem, or know how to fix this?

For the record:

- Downgrading to PHP 4 is not an option, I use libxml now.
- PHP 5 is NOT running in safe mode.
- I'm all out of ideas.

perhaps safe mode is enabled?

php.ini has `safe_mode = Off' in it, and phpinfo(); says it is off as well.

With passthru you need to specify the complete path of the executable.
