Need help installing Arcserve 11.5 on RHEL 5

Hi Guys,

I see a number of you are using some version of Arcserve to run you backups. Can you help me with getting it installed properly?

I am new to linux and have been trying to follow the arcserve documentation to have it installed. I have tried both the GUI and the command line installation and none works

GUI
when i navigate to the installation folder and click "run" nothing happens

Terminal
when i navigate to the folder and type "./install" i get a "bad command" error message

the installation guide doesn't state that it needs any specific package to be installed.

Any ideas how i can get this software to work?

I've never installed Arcserver on RHEL but it looks like your problem may just be simple file permissions. If you copied the install source to the host you may have lost 'execute' permissions on 'install', try the following:

Code:
cd /path/to/arcserver_install
chmod 755 install
./install

Thanks! That was infact the problem.

Bad news for me though, after going trough all of that, the software isn't compatible with the version of Linux.
