Need a Definition


What exactly is the definition of a shell script? I'm newish to Linux and still teaching myself the Linux command line and I see this quite often, what exactly is it?

Think bat file - just a file of commands. Go have a look here.
Says "advanced", but is the old "basic" guide consolidated.

Basically scripts are collections of commands that are stored in a file. The shell can read this file and act on the commands as if they were typed at the keyboard
