ndiswrapper / depmod /modprobe error

I am running the Auditor live-cd and ndiswrapper is preinstalled. I do this:

root@1[hp]# ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
Installing bcmwl5

root@1[hp]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
2802w driver present
bcmwl5 driver present, hardware present

root@1[hp]# depmod -a
FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.11-auditor-10/modules.dep.temp for writing: Read-only file system

root@1[hp]# modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.

What is wrong? Can I not use ndiswrapper because it is not installed to my hd?

Not familiar with Auditor live but many other live cd distros have ndiswrapper. If there isnt a utility for configuring ndiswrapper then you might not have to follow normal manual driver installation rules. Just do ndiswrapper -i xxxxx.inf then modprobe ndiswrapper. That seems to work most times. Removing other driver might help as well - 2802w

Well, I'm a noob(I've been at this for two days.) so I don't have a solution, but I might have the answer to what you're thinking right now. I installed it to my hard drive, but that just presented a new problem.

The ndiswrapper.ko driver file is missing, so modprobe ndiswrapper won't turn up anything.

So, then I said, hell, I'll just install the latest version. I downloaded the latest version of ndiswrapper, but then you need to have the source kernel for Auditor. Now, the problem with that is they don't include the source kernel on the disc anymore, because it took up too much space.

So, I said to myself, "This is a learning experience. Now, I get to learn how to compile a kernel." However, I cannot find said kernel. I've been crawling the forums, but no luck so far.
