MySql and phpMyAdmin problems

I searched the forums for this issue, but it seems no one has come across this problem....

I just installed Linux Suse 10.0 with Apache2, Php 4, MySql, and phpMyAdmin. Everything went well, can all works...except Mysql. I started all the services after enabling them in the Runlevel editor. I rebooted my server, and everything started up like they were supposed to. When i try and access my phpMyAdmin, it loads, but i have no permissions at all. I tried to set the login for the root, but that did not work, and it kept giving me cannot connect to mysql with the password yes. wierd. i tried some of the things suggested in this forum to reset the password, but i keep getting.... connect to localhost failed - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'. I attempted to use linux.root or linux instead of localhost, and that still did not work. I am about tempted to reinstall mysql and start all over. if i type mysql -u root, i get access denied, but if i type mysql -u mysql, it connects and goes to the mysql> prompt I tried to change the password there to, but i kept getting access denied.

Any ideas???

Thanks!
Tim

Nevermind

I think i figured it out, but i still cannot figure out how to give access to one user to have their own databases, and still be able to CREATE their own databases.

Thanks!
Tim
