mplayer skin not readable

Hi, im a newbie and require some help. I installed SUSE10. All is working. I downloaded mplayer and ./configure with the GUI option. Then make. Then make install.

When I run gmplayer, things start to run then I get error. Failed to open /dev/rtc: Permission denied (it should be readable by the user.)
[skin] file ( /usr/local/share/mplayer/Skin/default/skin ) not found.
Skin not found (default).

I have read other threads and downloaded default skin from mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

I put it into the dir in the error above. Did not work. I extraced the files into the same dir. Still get this error. I have been trying for last couple hours with no luck. Any help would be appreciated

go to the download site and under skins, download "blue". once you've downloaded it, as root, move it to /usr/local/share/mplayer/skin" and once it's there, rename "blue" to "default".
that should get it going for you.

Hi, i have still the same error. what about the directory structure? the one u have given is different to the place where it seems to be looking for the skin. I tried dling the blue skin and rename and put into that directory, but it still does not work??

I have rebuilt my machine since I managed to break the X11 system, and since new it still does not work?

any suggestions i can try?

thanks
