Movie playback with Xinerama

I have a three-monitor/three-video card system running in Gentoo Linux, and I enabled the Xinerama option to combine my three desktops into one. There seems to be a problem with this though - movies don't play right on my screens. Is it a problem with the overlay? Whenever I open an avi, mpg, etc. in Xine or Mplayer, I get gobbley goop. Either I get a solid blue color, or I get lines through a lime green color, or I get what seems to be a mosaic of colors, depending on what screen I move the window to, but what remains constant is that I can never view the video that I attempt to open. Does anyone have a clue what this might be, or has anyone had issues with this before? I'd appreciate any input you can give me.
Thanks!
