Angry Move Linux system to new partition

Hi Folks
I want to move my distribution to a new partition. If I do this and boot it using a boot manager it thinks its in the old partition and I get allsorts of problems. I can remember having this problem before and using a command to tell the kernel image in /boot that its located in a different partition but I cant remember the command!!!!! Can anyone help!
Thanks

That's going to depend on whether you're using lilo
or grub. Plus, chances are you'll need to edit the
/etc/fstab to point to the new device, too.

Cheers,
Tink

.. using a command to tell the kernel image in /boot that its located in a different partition ...

I have found the command its 'rdev' but apparenty it is now deprecated and only apples to i386 architectures .

I prefer to use lilo because i understand it a bit more than grub.
