Mount VDI-file in Linux: strange content // Debian + Windows7 // VM Virtual Box

Hello,
I have quite strange situation, I cannot explain by myself. I hope, that somebody from the community can help me.

IS-Situation: I have laptop running Debian 64 bit. This laptop has VM Virtual Box installed, and I also use one VM with Windows 7 (because of some software). The virtual machine has 2 drives (files) - one for system (VHD-file) and another one for OneDrive-folder (VDI-file). I start VM regularly so that this folder gets updated regularly. Some days ago I wrote one script which allows me to mount that VDI-file as ordinary drive, so that I can use OneDrive data without starting VM. This script is executed with "sudo"-permissions.

My question: when I mount this VDI file, "Nemo" opens, and when I go into OneDrive-folder, I see files and folders, which are at the present not in the OneDrive-folder (not shown using Windows- or Android-client). Those files are old files /folders I had there in the past. Does anyone have an explanation for it?

Thanks,
Andrey

Guessing: The OneDrive filesystem contains old versions of files which are hidden when mounted on Windows, but visible when mounted on Linux.

I thought already about it. Possible. But then why don't I see files which are currently there?

Andrey

Resolved

Hello,
I found out what happened: I have a snapshot of the virtual machine (made in December 2018), so when I mount VDI-file, I actually mount December-state.

Regards,
Andrey
