My parents don't want to buy Windows XP for an old computer for which Windows 98 just isn't cutting it. I have installed SuSE 10 and it is working fine. While I have convinced them ofmany changes being accessable and they don't need much of what they had, they would really some. Open Office is working, they are happy enough as it can read/write MS Word stuff for communicating with the family.
However, they don't like using AOL.com or using Thunderbird to get their AOL mail. They would prefer using... AOL's client. Yes I know, let's not even go there, and just ask simply... Can Wine run AOL(it is just the TCP/IP part, the actual software, no dialer is needed) or is there an AOL version for linux I can get for them. AOL.com seems to indicate there is no official one.
Well we are broadband both at home, and at the condo where this box will be. We don't need an ISP. The only reason we have AOL won't last much longer, in a few months it will be gone, and they will be happy with their g-mail accounts. However, until then, they like the news, the e-mail setup, and other BS in the AOL software.
Changing ISPs isn't worth it, as we don't need an ISP, I was just hoping there was some kind of AOL Linux software. All I can find is dialers, like PengAOL, which is not the part we need, that is fairly useless for a broadband connection.
