So I've got a bit of an installation problem here that I'm hoping someone will know how to fix.
When installing Mandriva Linux (2006) on what once a Windows XP computer (the hard drive has since been formatted), the installation goes to the screen after where you hit Enter, and then freezes. I'm not doing a shared-partition job, it's merely a one-OS install.
I decided to do a text-install so I could figure out what the problem was, and it turns out to be the same problem that I had when I tried to install Ubuntu earlier (and failed, hence I tried Mandriva instead).
The last lines that I get prior to the install stopping and 'freezing' is:
Code:
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard on isa0060/serio0
input: ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse on isa0060/serio1
crc error
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
Kernel panic - not syncing: WFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(9,0)
_
I've tried to make the situation as clear as posisble, and you'll have to forgive my novelty to Linux: indeed, I decided that Windows didn't serve my needs so hence I decided to convert. Perhaps you can help me get it up and running. I'll be right here watching the post (like you do), so if you want more information, please ask.
