Angry Mandrake 9.2 problem installing InstMsiA.exe

I am having problems loading the InstMsiA.exe file on my Mandrake 9.2. I tried installing the file ud_agent_setup.exe (a cancer protien folding program from grid.org) and low and behold I find it crashes due to no MSI program loading on the system. I do have the latest version of wine on the system.

When I run the "wine InstMsiA.exe" command to install the InstMsiA files I get the following 3 errors at the same time:

Error 1:
load_built_dll failed to load .so lib gor builtin "x11drv.dll" : lib Xxf86vm.so.1 : cannot open shared object file or directory

Error 2:
fixme: ntdll : File_GetNtStatus Converting errno 38 to STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL

Error 3:
fixme: win : SetWindowTextW cannot set text L "Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping) or corrupted Cabinet file." of other process window (nil)

I am running 80G HDD and 96M RAM on a laptop. This was an original Windows 98 machine I am converting to Linux. I am starting with MDK 9.2 cause it seemed like it would be a little more nooB friendly.

Any help at all is appreciated. I am overcoming one thing at a time.

You have a broken package. Install from the source, or find a package specifically built for that version of Mandrake. If it *was* specifically built for that Mandrake version, then don't use any packages from that packager again

BTW Wine CVS has its own "msiexec" program you can use to install some MSIs, so you may need to run it like this:

WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msi=n wine instmsia.exe

if you want the microsoft version.

I got the package direct from winehq.com specially built for MDK 9.1, 9.2 and 10.0

When I typed in "WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msi=n wine instmsia.exe" I received the following errors:

Error 1:
load_built_dll failed to load .so lib gor builtin "x11drv.dll" : libXxf86vm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
could not load graphicsd diver 'x11drv'

Error 2:
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe inilitialization for L "Z:\\home\\grogers\\InstMsiA.exe" failed, status c0000142

I reloaded Wine 20040716 and ran the same line as before and this is what I came up with this time.

ran the,
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msi=n wine InstMsiA.exe

Pop-up error said:
Extracting file failed. It is most likely due to low disk space fro swapping file or corrupted cabinet file.

Then,
wine: creating configuration directory '/root/.wine' ...
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display "0.0" .
wine: '/root/.wine' created successfully.
fixme:ntd11:FILE_GetNtStatus Converting errno 38 to STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL

You don't seem to have a full X install?

Try installing Wine from source. Remove the Mandrake RPMs first.

Install from source??????

Mike,

You said install from source? How? I understand what you are saying, but don't know how to do it or what "source code" to do it with.

Where should I get the source from?

Thanks for all the help

winehq.com, download the .tar.gz file, extract it, make sure you have the developer tools installed, then run ./tools/wineinstall
