Question mandrake 9.1 freeze

Just installed mandrake 9.1 and am only having one prob. I have cd-rw and dvd daisy chained. Install was fine but now when I try to run mandrake it works fine untill I try and use a cd in either drive. Screen freezes and the LED lights on my keyboard starts blinking. I configured both drives by turning off supermount but that didnt work (heard that was the prob). So I tried diff variations under the mount point (auto, supermount, etc..) but nothing works. Its very aggrivating when you need to install a package or just listen to music and your pc freezes everytime you pop a cd in........

Happens under KDE, Gnome, etc.....

Thanks

Michael

Lightbulb Check this

Make sure you have "Plug n Play OS" disabled in your BIOS. I have ran into this before. I swapped CD R/W's for another brand.

Please post the Model of your system, motherboard and your drives and how thay are connected ie master/slave and channel etc. That may help. If you can, post you fstab file. It's in the /etc directory.

We'll try to get you going.

I tried to change plug-n-play os off in my bios, but I do not have any listing for it..... I just disconnected my dvd-rom and I guess if I feel like watching a dvd I will just have to unplug the cd-rw and connect the dvd-rom.

Unhappy Can ping IP's but not URL's

I hope someone can assist me with this problem. I just installed Internet Cable and can't get to the internet. My provider told me that I have a Winsoc problem, since I can ping Ip addresses, but can't ping URL's. I'm running Win XP from my Dell computer.
