making XFCE shut down computer for low battery

I've come across a limitation in the XFCE battery monitor. It has options for what do when the battery is critical, and "shut down" is not an option. I thought of selecting "run command in terminal" and entering "sudo halt," but that can't work if I'm not there to enter the password. Is there no way to make the battery monitor shut the system down?

Check to see if your laptop sends events when battery discharges, it does, it's super easy, if not, I couldn't find anything on Google, sorry.

Or, you could always just edit the sudoers file (`EDITOR=editorOfChoice visudo` in terminal as root) to make sudo not ask for a password to halt, that may or may not work, depending on your permission (If you want to give the user the right to shutdown).

What version are you using? Mine gives me options to hibernate and shutdown. There may be an issue about the xfce-session manager connecting to dbus, since the latter handles privileged syscalls. Do you use a display manager or startx manually?

Ehh...apparently Xfce 4.8 with battery monitor version 1.0.5. Yes, I use a display manager--KDE Trinity's. (I stopped using Trinity, but kept its login manager.)

Use XFCE's power manager directly. To configure it run "xfce4-power-manager-settings" and to make sure it runs at startup open "Session" settings and on the "Autostart" tab make sure the check box next to "Power Manager" is ticked.
