Macromedia on NTFS harddrive

OK. I'm running Fedora 2. I have it on hda1 and have XP on hdb2. On that XP drive I have Dreamweaver installed and would like to run it from Linux. Is this possible?

I go to /mnt/windows as root and then navigate to Dreamweaver.exe. I type wine Dreamweaver.exe and get the error:
file_set_error: No such device or address
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\\mnt\\windows\\Program Files\\Macromedia\\Dreamweaver MX 2004\\Dreamweaver.exe" failed, status c0000142

Do I need to go about running this a different way? Or what do I have to do to get it running the way I'm trying?

Thanks,
Jody

.exe files are Windows specific. To run in Linux, you will need Wine. And Frank's Corner has instructions on installing it.

I have wine installed. That's why I tried typing wine dreamweaver.exe. I'm trying to get to Franks Corner but it's not loading completely so I click on the webdesign link and it flashed to another page that says "Web Design" then flashes back to the main page.

While others have recommended WINE (and, no doubt, have had tremendous success with it), I have to recommend win4lin. (http://www.netraverse.com/products/win4lin50/)

It's not free ($90), but it's paid for itself hundredfold. I frequently had applications crash when trying to use them under WINE (Flash MX and Illustrator are two biggies for me), or they suffered the crippling of important features. Win4lin lets you run a full shell with the OS in it and the app of your choice under that session.

And you still get the benefit of being able to ALT-TAB to a good IDE like Quanta to write your PHP scripts, while working across the LAN with Samba under Linux (which is better by far than trying to get Window$ to recognize and use your Samba shares...)

I know not free is not popular, but sometimes you just have to get the work done...; It's been two years -- maybe I'd have a different experience with WINE if I tried it today.

My $0.02.

OK. I finally got the pages brought up. I downloaded the first thing on Franks page for Dreamweaver MX. I install it then run the wine install for dreamweaver and it says that Dreamweaver is not compatible with this OS.

I have Dreamweaver 2004 MX
