lost power during a pvmove operation...

Over the past few weeks, I have been migrating from Windows XP to Debian Sarge. I have compiled a custom kernel, got the ATI fglrx drivers running, and finally decided to migrate everything to LVM. I was in the process of running pvmove to get my LVM data off of a temporary hdd where I was setting up my sytstem to my main hard drives when I had a power outage. Now, upon booting, I get a kernel error, saying that the mirror target is not found.
To run pvmove, I had to modprobe dm-target. Do I simply need to build another kernel on a rescue drive, boot into the system, and create a new initrd containing the dm-mirror module? Or is there more extensive damage done? The process had been running for several hours (no output on the screen, I forgot to pass the -v option), but the ide activity light had not been lit for a while.

I am at work now, if you need specific error messages, I can post them when I return to my computer.

Matthew

ps : also, is there a good/bad/unknown chance of my data being ok? I dont care if I need to create a temporary linux install on another disk, repair/mount my LVM2 structure, burn my important data files to DVD, and then start over from scratch with the debian/lvm install... (I don't think I'll put root on an lvm next time...)

ok .. problem solved...

I booted system with a fourth hard drive containing Linux. I rebuilt that install's kernel with the proper lvm and device mapper targets, then ran pvmove on the partially finished lvm array. Then used vgreduce to remove the now empty drive. Rebooted into the old lvm system and everything runs like a charm!
