Hi thebnut,
The message "respawning too fast" occurs because a program controled by init is restarting too fast. You can discover which program is by its Id, in your case, "T1". Look in the /etc/inittab file, which is the config file for init. You will find something like
Code:
T1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty12
Generally this file establish control for the serial ports and modems. If the hardware is not properly configured, you will get this message. May be its a configuration to control a modem and you does not have one, or you installed it in another port; then, init starts the program, the program doesn't find the hardware and quits; init restarts it again and this is detected and init disables it for 5 minutes.
If you doesn't have the hardware and wants to get rid of this message, edit the file, changing the word "respawn" to "off", save the file and execute "init q" to reread the inittab file.
Cheers,
Osvaldo.
