linux and ntfs virus cleaner

Is is possible to create a linux bootdisk that can mount ntfs and then run a virus scanner to clean a virus that has infected a windows XP machine that is using ntfs?

You can now use ntfsprogs to mount an ntfs filesystem with decent write support. I believe most distributions ship with ntfsprogs. Check it out. And use any antivirus program you like.. antivir.. etc etc.

I read some of the man pages and it is pretty tedious. Can you point me in the right direction?

That is fairly simple.
Note that most new linux kernels already have the FUSE module.. so you just need to load it (modprobe fuse)
And your distro will probably have the fuse userspace library, else its just a compile away :-)

Would I create a linux bootdisk and then add ntfsprogs utility to that bootdisk?

Yes. Also read the wiki on how to enable mounting via normal mount command.
