MRU cleaner

Was wondering if there is a linux equivalent to some of the windows programs for cleaning mru list (most recently used) and other such files and uneeded temp files/folders for privacy? Many programs, linux software included maintain the list without options to disable or clear the list.

Windows examples Windows washer, Internet Eraser, Crap Cleaner. I know most of the task these programs do can be done manually, but a one click for all is nice and some programs wont clear their mru list unless you have a tool like that.
