Kopete

I'm running Mandrake 10.1, I just installed it last night, and I'm a complete noob to Linux. Kopete, the built in messenger will sign into my yahoo account, but my msn messenger account comes back and tells me my password is wrong, but I know it's not cause' I use it to log into hotmail and to sign into MSN 7 on my Windows partition, so do you have any suggestions like how to fix the error or where to get a version of MSN 7 for Linux?

MSN made some protocol changes. Upgrade kopete and you should be fine

I opened up a .NET account as well and still was unable to join as you mentioned. My other accounts (AIM, Yahoo, Jabber) all worked.

As Bluenoser said Microsoft recently made some protocol changes to MSN which meant that the Kopete people had to make update to their program. Mandrake packaged this upgrade as part of their normal updates for the system so just start Mandrake Update (in the Mandrake Control Centre) and install all updates you see there (or at least the kopete update).

Updates

I got a chance to download all of the update packages and Kopete is working just fine now, thanks for the help guys, I'm learning, lol. I'm used to navigating Windows and now it's Linux, but I'm falling into it pretty easily.

Cool, you'll fall in love with Linux, trust me

I used to use Kopete as my primary until 0.10 came out, and that constantly crashed my PC. Hopefully you won't run into the same problems.
