kernel panic not syncying ....spin_is_locked

Greetings
Fedora4
AMD xp2.2g

I have installed the drivers for my Minitar wireless card (rt2400) and all looked good. That is the card was installed and running acording to Fedora`s Network Manager. I rebooted to check it all out and the system froze with the following message

kernel panic - not syncing ; ~/downloads/rt2400-1.2.2-b3.tar.gz_FILES/rt2400-1.2.2-b3/Module/mlme; 1539 spin_is_locked on unititialized spinlockdfeadfac (not Tainted)

I got into the system via a dual boot of Ubuntu and deleted the rt2400....tar.gz_FILES directory (this seems to be the directory created by the GUI Extract comand of the origanial tar file). I did the make from within this FILEs Module directory but can`t see why it would hook into the system when finished the install.
I rebooted but the situation hasn`t changed. Out of my depth I am afraid , help needed
Michael
