I'm going to predict that this gets locked. Really, if you want to know what people think about KDE vs. Gnome, just do a search. There are countless threads already regarding the subject. We really don't need another.
That's a fantastic idea. I'd repost that in Website Questions and Suggestions. Most things people have trouble with regarding GUIs are far more wm/de-specific than distro-specific. Make it easier to help people and maybe cut down on these polls at the same time - good idea.
Hm. Then I guess reposting in WQ&S would be redundant. Wonder why it hasn't been implemented? Maybe on the theory that we'd end up with a 'text editor' box and a 'web browser' box and so on? But I don't see it creeping like that - the interface is a major issue for general configuration and people often neglect to mention it. They usually say what the editor is when they're having an editor problem. I'd like to see it implemented, anyway. We'll see...
I pick KDE because it has a lot of features that GNOME does not have. I moved to XFCE. Its much, much lighter and faster. I do not like Blackbox or other blackbox wannabees because they are too plain and it is too depended on the mouse. Usually the mouse goes and you are left with an usuable GUI.
I think the whole concept of polls as it is on these kind of fast-paced forums is kind of silly. They tend to provide little information and some people seem to casually throw them around without explaining their situations or motives. (Seriously, what kind of question is "Time to vote"?) The polls would probably get more attention if they had a dedicated forum of their own.
I use KDE and have nearly always used. I've been too lazy to try the other alternatives. So I guess I like KDE better because my overall impression of it is good while the others remain neutral in my mind. I'm not going to vote, though.
Gnome and KDE are both fat toads,
Gnome just being one with lip-stick
and high-heels ... KDE with a layer
of bright make-up, applied somewhat
carelessly.
