KDE audiocd Ogg quality

When ripping tracks in KDE via the audiocd:/ slave, the Ogg Vorbis files are all lower quality than I would like. How can I change this setting?

How do you mean, 'lower quality'? Does that mean ripped tracks have skips, or some other problem?

Try increasing the size of the buffer. Audiocd may have the same problem as Grip. If the buffer runs empty, the quality of the rip may (probably will be, bad). So, increase the size of the buffer until it doesn't run empty.

Also, in conjuction with changing the buffer size, try decreasing the recording speed.

Some combination of increased buffer and decreased recording speed may solve that problem.

What I mean is changing the -q option passed to the encoder. They are encoded at quality 3 and I want them at quality 4 or 5.

You can change the settings in the KDE Control Center

Under Sound & Multimedia / Audio CDs select the OGG Vorbis Encoder tab and set the encoder settings as required.
