KDE 3.1 issue (debian 3.0r1 stable)

kernel 2.2.20 (yes, i know, its old.)

Anyway, after wrestling with KDE / X to get it upgraded, I finally got it to "work," if you can call it that. I can log in fine, all the links work (took a few minutes to install some stuff that it missed...) but I cannot see my panel now. The main 'task bar' / menu that normally appears at the bottom of the screen.

I have tried typing 'kicker' as root in the console, but it says, "bash: kicker: command not found."

I have also tried typing 'panel' in the console, and messing with some settings to see if I could give it a jump start, but that didn't work

any suggestions and / or help would be much appreciated

*EDIT* nevermind, finally just bit the bullet and reinstalled KDE. works fine
