Try telling the KaudioCreator Encoder to leave it as a wave file and see if that alows it to continue with multiple tracks. Then you'll know if it's an encoder problem such as lame. then you can try to manually encode them using lame and see if it takes.
Which version of KDE/KAudioCreator are you having trouble with? I had a blocker problem with the version that came with KDE 3.1.5, but the recent ones have been running great.
In addition to what kencaz suggested, I'd also check to see if the problem occurs on different music CD's. KAudioCreator won't encode songs whose "genre" value does not match any of its predefined values, for instance.
I have done as you suggested. I simply tried a different CD, with a more common 'genre' ('rock'), and it copied and ripped all tracks first time without a problem.
Strange.. Is there a way around this 'genre' problem? Maybe I should try different software?

You can manually change the genre of the CD. Click on the "Edit Album" button (second from the left on the manubar) and make sure the genre is one of the available values in the list. If it's not, just choose one from the list. You should be good to go now.
When looking in the screen to change genre, I suddenly noticed the first song on the CD I have a problem with has '/' in the track title! All the other tracks rip ok, but that one (the first one) freezes.
I have changed the name of the track and it worked!
