i used to have a goldstar cd burner that would do exactly that. burn data cd's fine, and get error messages like that when i tried audio. i found no solution. the version of linux didn't matter.

schilly really hates that weird version of cdrecord that comes with k3b, i think. i would try a different cdrecord. and not use k3b.

well i blew away k3b, and cdrecord. installed cdrecord version 2.01a27-2.

burning just fine now!

what i don't really get is why this happened? i installed a fresh copy of SuSE 9.1 from the same disc and got the same results. I guess maybe the disc is corrupt around the area where cdrecord resides. I don't know, I'm just stoked its working now...

Thanks Whansard for the advice...

beats me. i doubt your hard drive was corrupt. it was probably just a bug in that version of cdrecord

I was actually talking about the cd i installed from...

but! the problem has come back??? I have done a million updates and installation of packages. So I haven't a clue to which may have caused this.

buffer will go down to nothing...and burning just stops????

ughhh...

i may just try a whole new burning solution all together...

any recommendations?
