K3B OR Opera...

Okay, having another problem. I like K3B as it is hands down the best burning utility for linux. UNfortunately, if I try to install K3B synaptic tells me I have to uninstall Opera (the best browser on the web). This is quite a predicament. Any way around this? It looks like the dependency they are fighting over is libqt3c102-mt...

that is a odd situation, i have both K3B and Opera working great together in Slackware-10.2

i did compile K3B from source, and got my copy of Opera from Opera.com

so then do you think if I compile from source, that might solve my problem. I got opera from their website, only I got the .deb package specifically designed for Ubuntu...

Try compile K3b from sources, it is not too difficult
(./configure && make && make install should do the job)

I guess I will try compiling them both from source and see what happens.

true compiling for source is easy, but the problem I have is when doing make install, there is always some kind of error, and I end up with a broken package instead of an install...

There is something very wrong because I have k3b installed from the ubuntu (breezy) repository and I also have just installed the .deb for opera from the Opera website. Both are fine. I can only suggest that you upgrade your version of Mepis to 3.3.1
